Jose Diaz, LPC, is a compassionate and experienced mental health counselor serving Virginia and the surrounding area. Jose has a deep curiosity about human behavior and a dedication to helping individuals heal, grow, and find lasting emotional balance.
From the very beginning, I’ve been curious about why people are the way they are and why they do what they do. That curiosity led me to study psychology at Miami Dade College and Florida International University, and eventually to pursue a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Nova Southeastern University. During my internship at Jackson North Medical Center’s psychiatric unit, I knew I had found the right path—one where I could explore those questions and, more importantly, help others find answers of their own.
Along the way, I also gained a deeper understanding of myself. The tools and knowledge I was learning didn’t just help others—they helped me find healing too. While finishing my degree, I earned certifications as a Neuro-Linguistic Programmer and Hypnotist, which continue to shape the way I work with clients.
Since then, I’ve worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with individuals facing a wide range of mental health challenges, including severe mental illness. I’ve led PHP and IOP programs, trained hospital staff in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and served as a clinical supervisor for interns and psychiatry residents. I’m grateful for every person I’ve met along the way—it’s those connections that make this work meaningful.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. I look forward to meeting you, hearing your story, and seeing how I can support you in your journey.
Sincerely,
