Jose Diaz, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

From the very beginning, I’ve been curious about why people are the way they are and why they do what they do. That curiosity led me to study psychology at Miami Dade College and Florida International University, and eventually to pursue a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Nova Southeastern University. During my internship at Jackson North Medical Center’s psychiatric unit, I knew I had found the right path—one where I could explore those questions and, more importantly, help others find answers of their own.

Along the way, I also gained a deeper understanding of myself. The tools and knowledge I was learning didn’t just help others—they helped me find healing too. While finishing my degree, I earned certifications as a Neuro-Linguistic Programmer and Hypnotist, which continue to shape the way I work with clients.

Since then, I’ve worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with individuals facing a wide range of mental health challenges, including severe mental illness. I’ve led PHP and IOP programs, trained hospital staff in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and served as a clinical supervisor for interns and psychiatry residents. I’m grateful for every person I’ve met along the way—it’s those connections that make this work meaningful.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. I look forward to meeting you, hearing your story, and seeing how I can support you in your journey.

Licensed Professional Counselor

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 15 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults across Florida and Virginia as they navigate life’s challenges. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, trauma, school- or work-related stress, and major life transitions. I also have extensive experience supporting first responders and law enforcement professionals in managing the unique stressors and demands of their work.

My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Behavioral Parent Training, Trauma-Focused CBT, MATCH-ADTC, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. I tailor treatment to each client’s individual needs, helping them build practical skills, increase self-awareness, and create meaningful, lasting change.

In our sessions, you’ll find a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can openly explore your concerns and experiences. Together, we’ll identify patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that may be preventing you from living the life you want. My style is compassionate, warm, and down-to-earth, with a touch of humor when appropriate to help make the process feel comfortable.

My goal is to help you gain insight, clarity, and effective tools to support your growth, resilience, and healing. Reaching out for support is an important first step, and I welcome the opportunity to connect with you and discuss how I can best support your goals. I offer telehealth sessions in both English and Spanish.
